Terminated worker killed at Wal-Mart

A former employee of Wal-Mart was fatally stabbed on Sunday night at one of its chain stores in the suburban Minhang District while he was arguing about his recently terminated employment, police said yesterday.

The victim, a man surnamed Sun, 47, was in a conflict with his former director, surnamed Lu, after he was terminated by the hypermarket, Minhang District police said. Sun was stabbed in the leg by his former colleague surnamed Gu, who came to mediate the quarrel, police said.

Police said they had questioned Gu and the case was under investigation.

The incident happened around 9pm at the Wal-Mart on Pujin Road. Police said Sun approached Lu with a knife, and the two got into a fight during which Sun took out the knife.

Gu tried to grab Sun's knife but somehow cut the main artery of Sun's leg, police said.
