Thief opens shop next to burglarized stores
A man in Pudong District was detained for stealing as many as 1,100 clothes from shops, Shanghai police said this morning.
The suspect surnamed Liu broke into three clothing stores on Changli Road and Shangnan Road last month and stole clothes and money at nights. To sell the stolen goods as soon as possible, Liu rented a shop, also on Shangnan Road, for 2,000 yuan (US$ 321.2) a month.
Police received theft reports on October 27 and found in a surveillance video that the suspect rode a motorbike with several big packages on Shangnan Road around 4am that day. Police then saw the motorbike and a newly opened clothing shop nearby.
The officers raided the shop and nabbed Liu. Most of the stolen clothes were confiscated and a few had been sold.
