Three jailed for trafficking Lao girls

TWO Chinese men and a woman have been jailed after trafficking two teen Lao girls to China aiming to sell them for 30,000 yuan (US$4,394) each.

Shanghai Railway Transport Intermediate Court jailed Zhu Cheng'an, 27, and his uncle Zhu Bingchong for 6 1/2 years and jailed Zhu Bingchong's niece Xiong Jinfen for 5 1/2 years, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

The Zhus were each fined 6,000 yuan and Xiong 4,000 yuan.

Zhu Cheng'an, a farmer from Yunnan Province who was working in Laos, called Zhu Bingchong last December asking him to arrange buyers for two Laos girls he befriended, the court heard.

Zhu Bingchong contacted Xiong to find buyers in Anhui Province. On December 7, Zhu Cheng'an lured the girls to Yunnan pretending to take them to an exhibition. The three then took them on a train to Anhui.

When the group arrived at the Wuhu Station in Anhui, railway police caught them.
