LOCAL weather forecasters issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm today at 11:50am. Showers and lightning are expected in the following three hours.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau warned people to take special care in the weather, the jfdaily.com reported.
Yesterday, the Summer Solstice, temperatures rose above 35 degrees and a thunderstorm hit the city in the afternoon.
The weather bureau issued rainstorm, lightning and gale alerts.
