Tourism center beefs up security


TOURISTS taking coach trips from Shanghai Tourism Center are advised to arrive half an hour earlier than normal from this weekend to face tougher security checks for the upcoming World Expo.

From April 10 to November 15, people buying tickets at the center must show their identification cards. They also must show ID when boarding coaches to have their personal information recorded, today's Shanghai Evening News reported.

Baggage will be screened through X-ray machines,

The center has sold 560,000 admission tickets to the World Expo, which opens on May 1 and runs through October.

Its group tour products to the Expo were sold out for the first three days of the event.
