Tourists invited to taste artistic flavor during local Fuxing Art Festival

Overseas street artists and jugglers will play jazz music, perform juggling and invite people into a swing dance party on the streets of the Fuxing Road area during the upcoming Fuxing Art Festival, tourism authorities in Xuhui District said yesterday.
People will meet these artists singing Jazz and dancing swing under chinar trees between the sections of Fuxing Rd W. and Gaoyou Road, and Wukang Road and Tai'an Road on Saturday afternoon on September 19, 26 and October 3.
The three-week festival known as "Fuxing Style" starting this Saturday also includes cycling trips to explore old villas in the area on old British folding bicycles and bazaars of vintage collections at the lawn of the former residence of Chinese writer Ba Jin (1904-2005), a gray-toned garden villa on Wukang Road.
Visitors can get a free map of the area during the festival and visit a number of historical buildings such as the former residence of Madame Soong Ching Ling on Huaihai Rd M. and the Xuhui Art Museum on the same road.
"We hope people to Fuxing Road can slow down their pace and experience its artistic flavor," said Xu Lingzhi, an official with the Xuhui Tourism Administration.
A Jazz concert will be held during the festival.
The Fuxing Road area is famous for their old villas, tree-lined sidewalks, lifestyle shops and chic restaurants. It features tranquil and laid-back lifestyle.
