Among 80 local youngsters screened for curved spine, about 50 were identified with spinal problems, according to doctors from Shanghai Carespine Rehabilitation Center. Doctors say that early detection and treatment are key to curved spine prevention and control. It is difficult to use rehabilitation to correct a curved spine if the patient is over 16 years old or the curve is over 35 degrees. Children between 12 and 15 years old are encouraged to receive a spinal screening annually.
