UBPA offers faster access to popular pavilions
AT least 200 reserve tickets to the Saudi Arabia Pavilion are now available to visitors every day at the Urban Best Practices Area, more than double the original amount, organizers said yesterday.
People will also be able to enter the Czech and Italy pavilions directly after collecting certain stamps from their UBPA tour.
Sun Liansheng, director of the UBPA, said a total of 200 copies of stamp collecting cards will be offered at 9:30am and 1pm every day at the Prague Pavilion.
People who collect the Prague stamp and three other stamps from the UBPA will be entitled to enter the Czech Pavilion without waiting in the long line. The policy starts tomorrow.
To skip lines at the Italy Pavilion, visitors will have to snag a visitor's ticket at the information desk in the UBPA where "City Name Card" booklets are available.
After that, collect six stamps, one for each of the three Italian cases - Venice, Bologna and the Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea - and three others from the UBPA. At least 300 people will benefit from the new move starting this weekend, according to Sun.
The fast-track initiative, announced last month, aims to increase the relatively low attendance in the Puxi section of the Expo site compared to the main exhibition zone in Pudong. People can also collect 16 stamps from the UBPA to get a reserve ticket to the China Pavilion or the Saudi Arabia Pavilion, two of the most popular pavilions.
However, there has been one change to the policy. Visitors now need to collect the 16 UBPA stamps in one day, not over several days like before.
Sun said he's satisfied with the fast-track policy as 25 to 30 percent of Expo visitors are now checking out the UBPA, rising from 10 percent before the policy was initiated.
