US Pavilion tops list of favorites among Chinese

Nearly half of Chinese visitors to World Expo mostly plan to visit the United States Pavilion, followed by the France and United Kingdom pavilions, according to an online survey released today.

Eleven percent of respondents confirmed they would visit the Expo, 3 percents higher than last February's poll, said worldwide marketers Millward Brown-ACSR and Ogilvy during a poll from last November to December.

About 70 percent of Chinese respondents say they'll spend more than 1,000 yuan each at the event on tickets, food, shopping and other activities.

Forty-eight percent of those going said they were looking forward to visiting the USA Pavilion, whose delayed confirmation has attracted wide public attention. The most beautiful structure was voted to be the China Pavilion.

About 38 percent said they were looking forward to visiting the France Pavilion. Other popular pavilions were the United Kingdom and Japan. The South Korea Pavilion was fifth with Germany sixth.

Interest has risen most in the Denmark Pavilion, which rose in rank from 20 from 24th most popular, after it confirmed it will bring its national icon – the "Little Mermaid" statue – to Shanghai for the Expo, said Debby Cheung, group managing director of Ogilvy Public Relations.

A total of 14,337 people took part in the nationwide survey.
