Villa owner told to fill in sinking hole
HOUSING authorities say a villa owner must demolish his 5-meter-deep "luxury sinking yard" that he's dug in a public greenery area after it collapsed twice due to rain this week.
His neighbors living in nearby villas in a complex on Diantai Road in Baoshan District complained they are living in constant fear as the "deep hole garden" is shaking the foundations of their houses, damaging underground infrastructures and leading to sinking problems.
"It's unbelievable. This guy hired his construction team to dig in his garden and also right in the public greenery area without asking opinions from us. And the big hole is just next to my garage," said a villa owner surnamed Gu.
The neighbors said they felt unsafe living with the hole.
"The owner is required to refill earth into his hole and recover the scene to what it was before," said an official surnamed Li with the complex's property-management company.
