Weekend weather plays it cool
SHANGHAI can look forward to a cool weekend with weather forecasters saying Sunday's temperatures will drop by 7 degrees Celsius.
Thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow which will be muggy with the temperature rising to 31 degrees from today's 29 degrees, the Shanghai Central Meteorological Bureau said.
On Sunday the temperature will drop to 24 degrees with a cold front from the north entering the city.
Today will be cloudy with light rain expected in some areas.
Yesterday's highest temperature was 26.5 degrees.
Shanghai has not entered the plum rain season, or the annual peak rain season which usually falls during the second 10-day period of June, according to Fu Yi, a bureau official.
"The rain belt to the east of the city has not moved to the city," he explained.
The city's earliest plum rain season happened on May 22, 1936.
