Wind-blown signboard misses disabled children
A four-meter-long signboard was blown off a building this morning in Pudong New Area as gale-force winds swept through the city.
No one was hurt when the signboard was torn off the building of a service center for the disabled at 366 Dezhou Road around 8:20am.
The center's staff said several disabled children were at the gate when the signboard crashed down, hitting the ground just one meter away from some kids.
A bus station is about five meters away from the gate and there were a lot of commuters waiting there when the accident occurred.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a blue cold wave alert this morning, lowest of a four-scale warning system and predicted the mercury would drop to 3 degrees Celsius tomorrow and to zero on Sunday.
