Woman found nearly unconscious in vehicle
A YOUNG woman was sent to hospital by traffic police after she was found lying nearly unconscious inside her car on an elevated road in Jing'an District yesterday.
There were no apparent injuries and she was alone when found, said officers who did not disclose the woman's name.
Officers said they were still determining whether the woman, in her 20s, was involved in an accident, was intoxicated or had taken drugs.
Police said they would get blood and urine tests to see if any alcohol or drug was in her system.
"She was lying with her face in the steering wheel just like she was sleeping," said a police officer who declined to be named.
Police were alerted by drivers who spotted the vehicle stopped on a ramp of Yan'an Elevated Road about 1:30pm yesterday.
Police said the car showed signs of a collision on its right side, which could mean the vehicle had crashed into a roadside barrier.
The woman did not come to until one hour later at Huadong Hospital.
Her first words, which she repeated several times, were, "Where am I?"
The woman could hardly speak to doctors.
Police contacted the woman's family members.
Traffic on the elevated road was not affected as the car was towed, police added.
