Woman killed by bus while crossing road

AN old woman was crushed to death by a tourist bus this morning in downtown Changning District, police said.
The bus without passengers on it was driving at a high speed on Maotai Road when the woman in her 70s was crossing the road. The driver tried to stop the bus but it was too late.
After rolling over the woman, the bus lost control and hit a taxi parked on the side, but the taxi driver wasn't hurt, a witness said.
The woman died on the spot and police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
Also this morning, two buses clashed in a rear-end accident at the crossroad of Jiangsu Road and Changning Road. One bus passenger was injured slightly.
