Woman saved from suicide

LOCAL railway police said yesterday that they had prevented a pregnant woman from committing suicide by jumping onto the tracks at the Shanghai South Railway Station.

The 19-year-old migrant worker, surnamed Yang, became pregnant after living with a man surnamed Hua. But his parents objected to the couple marrying and took their son away with them when they were at the station. Yang, left alone and crying, then tried to kill herself. Her relatives later took her home.
