Woman saved in knife threat

A WOMAN was rescued from a man's knife point by the police this morning after she was taken hostage in a barber's shop.

No one was injured when police rushed the man. The suspect, an unidentified migrant worker, was said to be homeless and often loitered around the hair salon, witnesses said. The Jiali Barber's Shop, at No.332 Gongping Road near Tangshan Road in Hongkou District, where the emergency took place at about 3:40am, remained closed yesterday. Witnesses said the suspect had drunk alcohol and his motivation was unclear.
