Woman took tot to woo love, goes to jail

A WOMAN who abducted a 10-month-old boy in July and claimed it was her own to win back her ex-boyfriend was sentenced to one year and three months in prison, a local court said yesterday.
Prosecutors said the 24-year-old convict, surnamed Yang, lied about giving birth to twins, a boy and a girl, after she broke up with her ex-boyfriend, surnamed Jiang, last year.
Yang told him she gave the girl away and placed the boy in foster care with a local family, officials said. Jiang demanded to see the boy and promised to marry Yang if the child was his.
Yang set eyes on a tot living next to her rented apartment in Songjiang District. On July 2, Yang kidnapped the boy when the neighbor asked her to look after the child. Yang was caught in Minhang District the next day after the abduction was reported.
