Worker dies in site accident
ONE worker died and 10 others were injured in separate accidents at two Shanghai construction sites yesterday.
The first accident happened about 8am in Pudong New Area's Heqing Town as dozens of workers were erecting scaffolding for a warehouse building, witnesses said.
Part of the scaffolding on the warehouse rooftop collapsed, crushing the workers beneath, witnesses said.
Authorities said nine workers were sent to two nearby hospitals for treatment.
In the other accident, two workers fell after a mobile elevation platform they were standing on collapsed at about 10am at a construction site in Minhang District's Gudai Road.
One worker was pronounced dead at a local hospital while the other was still in critical condition after surgery, said the hospital authority.
City construction and work safety authorities were looking into both accidents yesterday.
