World Leaders To Discuss Expo Theme
LEADING world figures, including former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Nobel Peace Prize winner and former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, London Mayor Boris Johnson and HSBC Holdings Chairman Stephen Green, have been invited to share their visions for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the organizer said yesterday.
They will become part of a group of 100 leading figures including government officials, international organization leaders, entrepreneurs, university presidents, scholars and renowned athletes.
The group will discuss the 2010 World Expo theme "Better City, Better Life," urban development, harmonious and innovative human civilization, and Chinese wisdom in urban development, the organizer said.
The event is jointly sponsored by the Information Office of the Shanghai government, the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, and some local newspapers and institutions.
Transcripts of their discussion will be published by major Shanghai media, including Shanghai Daily.
