Yangtze Delta scenic gems on list

LOCAL tourism authorities announced 52 new significant scenic spots in the Yangtze Delta Region for the 2010 World Expo visitors.
Shanghai had four scenic spots on the list - ancient and modern towns in Jiading District; shikumen buildings in Luwan District; Shiliupu area in Huangpu District; and Linfen Community in Zhabei District.
The scenic spots reflect natural scenery, ancient culture and modern community life in Shanghai and Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, the authorities said.
The Shanghai Tourism Administration announced the first batch of 44 noteworthy scenic spots last year.
Tour agencies have started developing tour packages for all 96 scenic spots to allow visitors to get to know the culture of the region.
