Zhujiajiao opens wetland park to public
Another wetland park in suburban Shanghai has opened to the public for free in Zhujiajiao Town of Qingpu District.
Measuring 145,000 square meters, the wetland park is the ancient water town's first.
The park lies along the Dianpu River and could prove especially popular in summer as its water plants bloom at this time of year, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The park is designed following the natural ecology of an inland river, catering to Shanghai's native birds such as egrets, its designer Shi Qiuwei told the newspaper.
Visitors can take a stroll on walkways designed to allow people to appreciate nature without disturbing the wildlife, added Shi.
