UNDERPRIVILEGED students received subsidies totaling 1.04 billion yuan (US$163.8 million) this year, the Shanghai Education Commission announced yesterday.
The state invested 78 million yuan; the city contributed 219 million yuan; colleges put up 367 million yuan and society funds 106 million yuan, said the commission.
