Chilly start to new semester
THE city's 1.6 million primary and middle school students and children at kindergarten will have a chilly start to their new semester this week. The good news is that they won't have to negotiate snow and rain on the first day to school today, weather bureau officials said yesterday.
But rain will return on Wednesday through until Friday. The sky is expected to clear up at the weekend, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. The minimum temperature this week will be 1 degree below zero early tomorrow morning. After that, the mercury is expected to rise. From Wednesday, the high temperature will rise to 7 to 9 degrees, with lows of 3 to 6 degrees.
