Couple in the dock for buying answers

A GANG of five and a couple, who sold or leaked the answers of the national constructor certificate examination, were charged with divulging state secrets, the Changning District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.

The couple paid the gang 2,000 yuan (US$327) per subject for answers to the examination that qualifies them to engage in building construction activity.

The 40-year-old husband, surnamed Pan, was the owner of a decoration company. He and four of his employees sat for the examination. Pan bought each of them wireless devices at a cost of 8,000 yuan.

Pan asked his wife to relay the answers to him during the examination, while the employees had someone doing the same for them as well.

During the two-hour examination on September 22 last year, Pan told his wife that the signal was not clear and asked her to move elsewhere. But police caught up with the her and the others were arrested later.

During investigation, police learnt of the five-member gang led by a man surnamed Shen from Hunan Province.

The 27-year-old Shen even had a website that claimed to help with the answers of all national examinations, including college and postgraduate entrance exam and certified public accountant examination.
