German employers find jobs hard to fill
MORE than 50 German companies jointly held a job fair in Pudong today but did not find many qualified candidates in the thousand or so job applicants, most of them fresh graduates with no experiences and career planning.
Han Qi, a human resources manager with Brose China Co, told Shanghai Daily that many applicants just blindly distributed their resumes and didn't even know what job they were up to. "We're unlikely to hire these people," she said.
Han said some graduates seemed too confident about themselves but "their abilities don't match their expectations."
Zhang Yanzhi, a graduate from Shanghai Ocean University, felt disappointed and complained that jobs for young graduates were scarce. Zhu Weiqing, a man who just completed his education in Australia, felt the same.
The job fair, held twice a year at the German Center in Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park, offered more than 500 positions this spring and will last tomorrow.
