Japanese student falls, in coma

A JAPANESE student of Fudan University fell from a building on campus yesterday morning and remained in coma last night despite emergency rescue efforts, police said.
The incident happened around 9am at a 23-story student housing building of the university on the campus on Handan Road, Yangpu District.
It was not known yesterday from which part of the building she fell or the reason for the fall. Police were investigating.
The 28-year-old woman was rushed to Changhai Hospital in critical condition, police said.
"We are not sure whether she jumped off or not as there were no witnesses around," a police officer said. "We can only wait until she wakes up and tells us."
The name and major of the student were not disclosed.
