Push for more foreign students
Shanghai aims to increase the number of foreign students studying at local universities by more than 45 percent by 2015 with a set of new measures unveiled yesterday.
Apart from increasing the number of foreign students, the city also hopes to attract more recruits for long-term degree programs. The city had about 47,700 students from overseas last year; only one-third of them in long-term degree programs. The plan is to attract 70,000 overseas students by the end of 2015 with more than 70 percent studying for long-term degree programs.
