Twins deported for overstaying visa
TWINS who came here from Europe to study will be deported after being interned for 10 days for overstaying their visas for nearly a year, the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau announced.
The twins came to study Chinese in a university in August 2006. Their family, hit by the financial crisis, had to move to Vietnam and could no longer afford their childrens' study.
The twins dropped out of school and were asked to leave the country when their student visas were cancelled.
Unwilling to return to Europe or Vietnam, the twins decided to wait in Shanghai until their parents could send them some money to sort their visa problems.
Without a visa, they were unable to find jobs and had to live off their friends for a year.
They were caught this month.
