Youth activity center expands to include ancient Chinese inventions
A science education base where students can learn and try ancient Chinese inventions such as paper making and weaving will be expanded to include more programs next month, education officials said today.
The Hongkou District Youth Activity Center on Yunguang Road will add an artificial archeology dig site and a traditional water conservation project to give students the chance to experience and understand ancient Chinese technologies.
Chang Shenglong, director of the Hongkou District Education Bureau, said the new programs would help students learn about ancient Chinese inventions and technologies.
Students can learn how to weave, make paper and pottery with the help of professional teachers. All activities are free.
The center is open to all students on weekends and during school vacations. Schools can make a reservation to bring students to the center from Tuesday to Friday.
