Art donation
AN ink wash painting by Chinese modern art pioneer Xu Beihong was yesterday donated to the city’s China Art Museum. The work, featuring a rooster and sheep from the Chinese zodiac, was presented by the family Yi Dunwu and his wife Chen Zhuyun, who were given the picture as a gift by the artist in 1936.
Xu, who lived from 1895 to 1953 is known for combining Chinese brush and ink techniques with Western composition and perspective to create a new national art. The Yi family decided to donate the work to the museum so that everyone could admire it.
