MOTOR racing fans can try driving themselves on the Shanghai International Circuit from May 1.

Fans can drive a lap on the 5.4-kilometer Formula One circuit for 100 yuan (US$14.6), including insurance, according to the Youth Daily today. Other racing experiences could cost up to 2,000 yuan.

A racing experience center will also open at the circuit in Jiading District in May. Fans will be able to take a course in professional race driving with professional drivers instructing.

The circuit was opened to race fans on a trial basis in June, 2007.

The Shanghai Car Fair, which will include exhibitions, competitions and forums, will be staged in Anting Town, Jiading District from September to October.
