Giant yellow duck sighted in city

SHANGHAI now has its own giant yellow inflatable duck, after one appeared outside a KTV venue in Xujiahui on Saturday.
Shanghai residents have since been rushing to the KTV house in Xuhui District to get a photograph taken with the two-meter tall attraction.
This is the latest in a number of giant yellow ducks that have appeared on Chinese mainland in recent days.
Inspiration came from a 16.5 meters tall, 19-meter-long duck by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, which has proved a sensation since sailing into Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour a month ago.
But the appearance of the "fakes" has raised questions about copyright infringement.
Employees of the KTV venue told Shanghai Evening Post they didn't know if their two-meter tall duck, was authorized.
And no officials for the venue were available for comment.
However, a city lawyer warned that copyright may have been infringed.
"The KTV house could have infringed the copyright of the Hofman duck if the model is a copy," said You Yunting, a Shanghai lawyer.
He advised businesses not to use copies and respect the original design.
Hofman's original "Rubber Duck, has been exhibited in 15 cities of 11 countries in the world since 2007.
In Hong Kong it has attracted much media and online attention.
Copies have taken to the water in other Chinese cities such as Wuhan, in Hubei Province, Qingdao in Shandong Province and Shenzhen in Guangdong Province.
Real estate developers have been using them to promote their businesses.
Rubber duck toys are available on taobao.com, e-commerce website.
Many stores were accepting orders to make rubber ducks in various sizes, at prices ranging from 10 yuan (US$1.6) to 800 yuan.
