India relics on show at Shanghai Museum
THE Shanghai Museum opened today an exhibition of Indian cultural relics, which are on loan from the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The exhibition dubbed "India: the Art of the Temple" will present 106 pieces of relics including paintings, terracotta and stone sculptures to show the visual culture of India's great religions--Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The show runs through November 15.
Most of the relics have long been kept in the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum and have never been shown before, Xinmin Evening News reported.
Visitors will also watch a multimedia animation of Indian temple forms at the end of the show.
