Magnolia Awards jury presidents announced for coming Shanghai TV Festival

THE 20th Shanghai TV Festival today released names of jury presidents for the coming Magnolia Awards, and they include some big names.

Famous mainland director Guo Baochang will preside over the jury in the TV film/miniseries & TV series category. Guo has directed such films as "Mist Over Fairy Peak," "Perfect Partners" and "Male Citizens." He also has directed more than 30 TV series.

Canadian documentary filmmaker Chris McDonald will be the jury president in the documentary category, while veteran South Korean animation director Nelson Shin will lead the panel for the animation category.

The city's annual TV festival will run from June 9 to 13. This year more than 1,000 entries from 50 countries and regions are taking part in the competition for the TV festival's Magnolia awards, which include TV film, documentary, drama and animation.

During the festival, recent and acclaimed shows will be screened on local TV channels. The festival also includes the Shanghai Student Television Festival, TV forums and an industry segment that deals in the TV market. Television audiences can vote for their favorite actors and TV series.
