Museum goes virtual

A VIRTUAL version of China Art Museum went online yesterday, giving viewers a simulated tour of the museum and high-definition digital copies of the artworks, museum officials said. It is the first of its kind in the country.
The virtual museum, www.china.artmuseumonline.org, will be officially launched on October 1 with copies of 7,000 artworks put online. Visitors can zoom in and zoom out by clicking the mouse to appreciate the artworks, whose definition is as high as 40 million pixels. The virtual museum also gives viewers a 360-degree view of every floor and exhibition hall.
