New Sino-UK films inked including hilarious comedy set in London
Two new Sino-UK film productions will be made according to the latest strategic cooperative contract between SMG Pictures and ZhongZe China-UK Film Fund.
One of the productions is a comedy film set to the backdrop of London, telling a hilarious story of two Chinese men pursuing their dream in UK.
Veteran British actor and independent producer Craig Conway also announced that he will start shooting a film in China by the end of the year.
The film will gather stars from China and UK.
In the near future outstanding Chinese TV and film productions are also expected to reach global audiences through UK's video sharing website Distrify.
SMG Pictures and Shanghai Writers' Association also set up a "Pioneer" incubation foundation today to cultivate young talented novelists and film makers.
Local filmmaking students have chance to receive funding to make a 10-minute short film. Young writers who are potential script writers will also be discovered and have opportunities to work with celebrated directors.
Since young people now take up a major proportion of the box office revenues in China, Leo Force Pictures today launched a series of new entertainment projects centered on the young generation of audiences.
It will collaborate with famous script writers and sci-fi novelists to develop film stories related to the lives and emotions of young people. Some movies will be produced with VR (virtual reality) technology.
New film projects include Chinese remake of the high-grossing Thai youth romance film "A Little Thing Called Love," and a Chinese sci-fi blockbuster film series of "City of Chaos," which is based on an award-winning sci-fi fiction.
Popular boy band EXO member Park Chan-yeol was also in town this afternoon to promote his latest comedy film "So, I Married the Anti-fan."
Set to the backdrop of Shanghai, the film adapted from a popular South Korean anime is slated for release on June 30.
