Nighttime thrills at Jinjiang fun park

JINJIANG Amusement Park will open every night from this Saturday until the end of August, officials said at the weekend.

The park will be open daily from 8:45am to 5pm and from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets are 80 yuan (US$8.78) for 6 rides and 50 yuan for 2 rides.

A motorbike roller coaster has been added to the park's list of rides at a cost of about 40 million yuan. Officials said it will also be open at night.

The park will soon face some tough competition as the Happy Valley amusement park in Songjiang District will launch its soft opening period from August 8 to September 12, officials said. Happy Valley is about 10 times the size of the Jinjiang park.

Several Happy Valley facilities, including a cinema, won't be open during the soft opening. Tickets during the period will be 170 yuan each, a 15 percent discount.
