Photo contest zooms in on lives of Shanghai women

LOCAL expatriates are invited to join in a photo contest called "A wonderful day of Shanghai women" and to win a top prize of 5,000 yuan (US$803).

The contest is organized by the Shanghai Women's Federation.

Participants are required to submit photos taken in Shanghai on a single day in November or early December. The photos should capture wonderful moments of local women, no matter their social backgrounds.

Zhou Miao, a publicity official of the federation, said the contest aims to illustrate the role of Shanghai women in the city's economic and social development.

"We are looking forward to reading the stories of Shanghai women through the lens of the participants. Expats are also encouraged to show us their observation of Shanghai women," Zhou said.

Participants can email their photos in JPG format to sh_nxsy@163.com before December 30. Winners will be awarded cash prizes of up to 5,000 yuan.
