Publishing plan

Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences yesterday unveiled a plan to publish the new “Shanghai General History” . The new edition will contain 30 volumes, 12 million words and 3,000 illustrations. Compared with the 1999 edition, the new one will comprise a more recent history of Shanghai until 2010, introduce more of expatriates’ life in the city and include the history of Jiading and Baoshan districts and Chongming County for the first time. The Shanghai government financed 10 million yuan (US$.1.6 million) for this project which is set to publish in 2017 and 2018.
