Saddle Up To See Historic Villas
GET on your bike to learn more about Shanghai's mysterious old villas and buildings.
The Old Villa Exhibition Center on No. 359, Xinhua Road, Changning District, is open to visitors on Tuesdays, offering comprehensive information on the city's old villas.
It has devised two cycling routes that take in these unique buildings - one to former residences of the city's notable people and the other to see exotic architectural styles. That includes Lane 211, Xinhua Road, known as "the foreign lane" as it contains more than 10 villas with various styles. These include Weile Garden, built in 1924 and Fan Garden, built in 1916.
