'Shear Genius,' Chinese style, to hit TV screens
THE Chinese version of the American reality show Shear Genius will go on the air by the end of July, according to the Shanghai Media Group.
SMG decided to launch the show after the success of China's Got Talent, the Chinese version of Britain's Got Talent, with the copyright purchased by SMG, said Jin Zhongbo, an official of the New Entertainment coaffiliated with SMG.
The Chinese version of Shear Genius will be the first reality television series focusing on hair styling in China, Jin said. Audiences will see fierce competition among top stylists competing with each other to create the best hair styles.
"The Chinese version of the Shear Genius will show common Chinese worried about beauty and fashion," said Jin.
The first show will air on July 31.
Twelve contestants will take part in the first round and the winner will have the chance to join fashion shows in Britain and other countries.
