The Past Ripples Through Rowing Club's Future
THE Shanghai Rowing Club, one of the century-old buildings along Suzhou Creek, will be restored to its original appearance.
It did not originally make the city protected-buildings list and was earmarked for demolition last year in the Bund Origin project.
The building was finally saved under the efforts of architecture experts and media.
Two stories that had been added to the building after the liberation are removed to restore the building's original appearance.
The remaining two-story building has one of the city's first swimming pools, to be covered with a glass lid. The first floor will be opened for sightseeing.
The renovation also restored an original tower building.
