War epic 鈥楾he Chinese Widow鈥 announced
ACADEMY award-winning Danish director Bille August, American actor Emile Hirsch and mainland actress Liu Yifei interacted with movie buffs and released the war epic "The Chinese Widow" today.
Set in World War II, the film tells a story of how Chinese people rescue an American pilot. It is also a touching love tale between the pilot and a Chinese widow.
August, whose credits include "Pelle the Conqueror" and "The Best Intentions," is enthusiastic about Chinese culture. It took him four years to revise the script.
For the first time Liu portrays a village woman with an 8-year-old daughter in the movie. The film's special screening in Denmark earlier this year received wide hails from both critics and audiences.
