Wide variety of programs announced at Shanghai TV festival
AN array of documentary, TV and online series were released yesterday at the 23rd Shanghai TV Festival.
“Celebrity Explorers,” a nature documentary series, will air on Chinese TV networks and video-sharing websites this summer. Co-produced by SMG New Media Business Unit and WildAid, the series aims to promote awareness and interest in protecting endangered wildlife.
The series has five episodes, each hosted by Chinese celebrities, including the singer Liu Huan, actor Wu Xiubo, and pianist Lang Lang. Mainland actor Li Guangjie, shares his experience of swimming with sharks in the Bahamas. “Dealing with the water pressure, cold, fatigue and nausea was challenging,” Li recalled. “But it was well worth it being able to interact with sharks.” Another actor, Wu Xiubo swims with mantas in Hawaii.
Meanwhile, shooting for “Take Your Mark,” a swimming-themed online series, is under way. The series centers on young people’s dreams, struggle and friendship. Olympic diving gold medallists He Zi and Qin Kai appear in the series.
Yung Pictures, meanwhile, announced it was making five TV and online series covering “war, science fiction, suspense thriller and period drama.”
Yung said it will also strengthen cooperation with Shanghai Theater Academy and other artistic colleges worldwide to foster young talent.
