Breathe, more green space coming
SHANGHAI will build at least 1,200 hectares of new green space this year, the city’s greenery committee of the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said yesterday.
This will include 540 ha of parks and green landscapes, such as the Riverside green space along the Huangpu River and the Hongqiao commercial area, parks such as Lingkong No.1 Park in Changning District and the Central Green Park in Songjiang.
Twenty new parks will be added, bringing the city’s total to 240.
Three suburban parks — the Pujiang Country Park in Minhang, the Jiabei Country Park in Jiading and the Guangfulin Country Park — will be completed and opened to the public this year.
Several old parks will also be renovated.
Planting of the 1,000-meter-long shelter forests on the north side of the G15 Highway and in the New Longquan Port in Jinshan will both begin.More than 210 kilometers of green corridors will be built, including on the banks of the Huangpu and along the Outer Ring Road.
