Light pollution blamed on lack of wind
SHANGHAI Environmental Monitoring Center said the city's air quality was slightly polluted today due to misty weather over the Yangtze Delta region and it advised people with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, children and the elderly to avoid staying outdoor too long.
Shanghai Meteorological Bureau also issued its first warning of haze this morning and reminded motorists to drive carefully as local visibility fell below 3,000 meters.
Local weathermen said the haze was caused by still air and lack of wind. The sky is expected to clear up tonight with a change of wind.
