Longer range forecasts come into play
SHANGHAI started its 72-hour air quality forecasts yesterday — an improved service replacing the previous 48-hour forecasts.
The new forecast issues both the air quality index (AQI) and major air pollutants and is released around 5pm daily. It forecasts air quality across a three-day period.
According to the latest forecast, Shanghai’s air quality will be good today. Tomorrow is expected to be slightly polluted, with the AQI falling between 90 and 110. The index is forecast to climb to between 135 and 155, or moderately polluted, on Thursday.
