Pungent smell pervades offices
WATERPROOF materials on a bridge led to a pungent smell that pervaded the Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park in the Pudong New Area yesterday afternoon, authorities said.
Office workers expressed their concern on microblogging site Weibo when they sensed the smell. A company let its employees get off work earlier than usual, according to a post. A preliminary investigation by the environmental authorities showed workers were applying waterproofing materials to the surface of Sanzaogang Bridge on Xinde Road, leading to the smell, according to Chen Wei, an official with the city's environmental protection bureau.
