Kraft Foods China head wins award from Shanghai government

The Shanghai Municipal Government yesterday presented Lorna Davis, President of Kraft Foods China, with Magnolia Silver Award.

The Magnolia Silver Award honors foreign citizens who live and work in Shanghai and have made significant contributions to the city's economic development, social progress and international relations and cooperation.

The Award was set up by the Shanghai Municipal Government in 1989 and remains the highest recognition for foreign citizens living in Shanghai.

"I want to share this award with Kraft Foods China employees as we have worked hard together over the past three years to make a delicious difference to the consumers and the community." said Davis.

Since Kraft Foods China moved its headquarters to Shanghai in 2008, she has led the company to achieve robust double digit growth year by year. Under her leadership, Kraft Foods China also launched the Biscuits R&D Center in Suzhou and integrated Cadbury China's business in 2010.

Besides the business success, Davis has always been encouraging Kraft Foods China employees to be involved in volunteer work and give back to the society. Every October, Davis led the staff volunteers and brought the global community involvement initiative "Delicious Difference Week" to China. In 2010, more than 500 Kraft Foods China employee volunteers from Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Jiangmen cities and Jilin, Hunan, Anhui provinces across China, walked into their communities to help more than 3,000 children in migrant workers' schools, orphanages and Kraft Hope Kitchen schools to bring a day's delicious difference to these children's life.

In 2009, Kraft Foods China launched "Kraft Hope Kitchen" in partnership with the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), aiming to improve rural Chinese students' food supply and nutrition, and to improve the nutritional awareness and food safety practice of rural school teachers. By the end of 2009, the first 100 "Kraft Hope Kitchens" were established in Anhui, Yunnan, Jilin, Hunan and Hebei provinces. More than 50,000 rural school kids have benefited from these well-equipped school Kitchens. Up till June 2010, Kraft Foods China employees have provided more than 6,000 hours of volunteer service to the Kraft Hope Kitchen schools. Kraft Hope China's business partners have also donated to the Kraft Hope Kitchen project.
