14th death in city from bird flu
A WOMAN infected with H7N9 bird flu died in Shanghai Friday, local health authorities said yesterday - bringing the nationwide death toll to 33.
An 83-year-old, surnamed Jiang, died Friday evening in a local hospital, a month after she was confirmed as having the bug, the Shanghai Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission announced. By yesterday evening, Shanghai had confirmed 33 H7N9 cases. Four people are being treated in hospital, 15 have recovered and 14 have died. China has confirmed 130 H7N9 cases since March.
